{"id":1668,"date":"2019-03-20T06:22:13","date_gmt":"2019-03-20T06:22:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.beachminerals.org\/?p=1409"},"modified":"2021-09-23T15:08:19","modified_gmt":"2021-09-23T09:38:19","slug":"national-mineral-policy-2019-approved-by-govt-of-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beachmineral.com\/ta\/national-mineral-policy-2019-approved-by-govt-of-india\/","title":{"rendered":"National Mineral Policy 2019 approved by Govt., of India"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Key proposals of the National Mineral Policy 2019<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\uf0b7 Proposes to increase the production of major minerals <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">by 200 per cent in seven years, and reduce trade deficit in<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">mineral sector by 50 per cent in seven years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\uf0b7 Aims to attract private investment through incentives <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">like financial package, right of first refusal at the time of<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">auction etc. or any other appropriate incentive according to <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">international practices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\uf0b7 Introduces the concept of Exclusive Mining Zones <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">which will come with in-principle statutory clearances for<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">grant of mining lease.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\uf0b7 Emaphasises on simplifying the clearance process and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">making it time-bound for mineral development and commencement of mining operations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\uf0b7 Proposes to identify critically fragile ecosystems and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">declare such areas as \u201cno-go areas\u201d\/ \u201cinviolate areas\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\uf0b7 Encourages merger and acquisition of mining entities, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">and transfer of mining leases that have been granted in a<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">transparent manner to ensure seamless supply of ores and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">scaling up of business.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\uf0b7 Focuses on a long term export-import policy for the <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">mineral sector to provide stability for investing in large<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">scale commercial mining activity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\uf0b7 Proposes harmonising royalty and all other levies and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">taxes with mining jurisdiction across the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\uf0b7 Emphasises on ensuring welfare of mining-affected <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">people \/ communities and ensuring rehabilitation and resettlement, by suitable implementation of all relevant <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Acts \/ Rules.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\uf0b7 Introduces the concept of Inter-Generational Equity in <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">mineral resource exploitation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Proposes development of an over-arching inter-ministerial <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">body, under the aegis of the Ministry of Mines, to institutionalise mechanisms of sustainable mining.
